Abstract

Thestudyreportedinthispaperexaminestheeffectsofcommunityinteractiveprocessesonruraladolescents’educationalachievement.Specifically,thepaperexploredthedirecteffectsofcommunityinteractiveprocessesonruraladolescents’educationalachievementandtheindirecteffectsviaself/esteemanddelinquency.Themethodofstructuralequationmodelingwasused toanalyzedatafromanationallyrepresentativepanelstudyofruraladolescentboysandgirlsin10thgradethrough12th grade.Theresultsmakeacompellingcasethatcommunitiesareconduitsforboostingself/esteem,facilitatingnormativebehaviorsandacademicperformanceinruraladolescents
