Abstract
The social problem of teen pregnancy tends be on the rise in the Unites States with African American teens leading the march. This study examined the relationship between teen pregnancy among African American females and high school graduation. Data was obtained from 259 participants from the ADD Health dataset. To examine the relationship between teen pregnancy and obtaining a high school diploma, a chi-square analysis was conducted. The research did find that teenage parents were less likely to obtain a high school diploma. This study showed there was no significant difference between participants that achieved their desired level of education, and teenage pregnancy along with no significant relationship found for participants that expected to achieve a higher level of education. The study recognizes the need for early intervention and ongoing education.
