The comprehensive restricted-use data, available by contractual agreement, contains information on all study participants and is distributed only to qualified researchers who demonstrate a commitment to maintaining strict data security and limited access. Applicants for a Restricted-Use Contract must hold a terminal degree in their field and be a faculty member at an academic institution or an employee of a recognized research organization or government agency. All applicants must sign a Data Use Agreement affirming adherence to confidentiality and data protection standards.
Please note that Restricted-Use Contracts do not permit the linkage of Add Health data with external data sets. Researchers interested in integrating supplemental, contextual, or biological data with Add Health should consult the Ancillary Studies page for guidance on the appropriate procedures and requirements.
Available restricted-use data sets are listed in the Add Health File Inventory.
To learn more about the two types of contracts, please go to the Restricted-Use Contract Options page.
If you have questions about next steps for accessing restricted-use data, please go to Accessing Wave VI Restricted-Use Data.
