Restricted-Use vs Public-Use Data Files

The total number of observations does not match between the restricted-use and public-use data since the public data consists of 1/3 the full sample (1/2 of the core sample and 1/2 of the over-sample of African-American adolescents with a parent who has a college degree, chosen at random).
